A mini-mass of movie trailers: ROBOTS, Next Goal Wins, and Maggie Moore(s)

Grab that popcorn! Maybe some wine? Definitely some candy and sparkling water and head to your local cinema to lose yourself in a (hopefully) good movie.

I say “hopefully” because all we have are trailers to go on, and while they look very fine indeed, they are supposed to look very fine indeed, and you can’t always assume that the finished product will be as good as the promo advertised.

But I live in a world where hope springs eternal and I am going to believe these will be amazing reasons to chomp down on popcorn and candy and slurp down some sparkling water, and demurely sip some wine – oh, who are we kidding; once the lights go down, we’ll be guzzling the damn stuff because #reasons – and to escape into stories that remind life doesn’t always need to conform the ordered straight lines of the everyday … well, not sometimes, anyway.

The story focuses on a womanizer, Charles, and a gold digger, Elaine, who learn humanity when forced to team up and pursue robot doubles of themselves, who have fallen in love and run away together. Robots is both co-written and co-directed by two up-and-coming filmmakers Anthony Hines (making his directorial debut after producing The Dictator, The Brothers Grimsby, and Borat Subsequent Moviefilm) & Casper Christensen (Danish comedian directing his first feature after directing the Klovn and Tirsdags-Aloha! series). The screenplay is based on a short story by Robert Sheckley. Hines also co-wrote Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, and Christensen co-wrote the Danish cult comedy Klown.
