A spin-off from the series The Mandalorian, taking place in the same timeframe as that series set right after the events of Return of the Jedi (1983). Rosario Dawson stars as Ahsoka Tano. The character was first created for the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars (voiced by Ashley Eckstein). Season 2 will showcase an even bigger story for this former Jedi as she confronts her own Jedi legacy. “The stakes are higher, the battles are bigger… and the threat of Thrawn looms large for Ahsoka, her crew, and the entire galaxy.” Ahsoka is a Lucasfilm / Disney+ series created & showrun by Dave Filoni, developed by Filoni and Jon Favreau. The series is also written by Dave Filoni. With episodes directed by Dave Filoni, Jennifer Getzinger, Anders Engström, & Bryce Dallas Howard. Executive produced by Jon Favreau & Dave Filoni. Made by Lucasfilm & Golem Creations. (courtesy First Showing)

It’s always a wonderful time when you have the opportunity to immerse yourself in more storytelling from the Star Wars universe.

While the franchise, which I first happily encountered back in 1977 when the first film was released, hasn’t always shown a ton of imaginative flair in terms of expanding its storytelling palette, but what it does do it does very well and that includes giving life to some characters that might have once just existed the narrative shadows, or not at all.

Cue Ahsoka who sprang to life in the The Clone Wars and who grew into an even more important character when she popped up in The Mandalorian, stole the show and got her own show.

Ahsoka season 1 was brilliantly engaging, and I am very much expecting more of the same when Ahsoka S2 drops its first episode on 20 January 2027.
