Set in the 1950s, WandaVision will follow the story of Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany’s superhero characters Scarlet Witch and Vision. The series blends the style of classic sitcoms with the Marvel Cinematic Universe in which Wanda Maximoff and Vision—two super-powered beings living their ideal suburban lives—begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems. I love TV shows with a quirky premise.

And WandaVision, the first of Marvel’s TV shows that sits snugly within the carefully-constructed Marvel Cinematic Universe (that honour was supposed to fall to The Falcon and the Winter Soldier but COVID production delays put paid to that), is as quirky as it gets.

Looking for all the retro world like a classic ’50s sitcom, WandaVision, which as Decider observes, is “literally in the set from The Dick Van Dyke Show“, tread an intriguing line between whimsically clever and darkly beguiling, promising in the process what looks like one of the best show to come out this year.

WandaVision premieres on Disney+ in December.
