SNAPSHOT
In the third season of Ted Lasso, the newly-promoted AFC Richmond faces ridicule as media predictions widely peg them to finish last in the Premier League and Nate (Nick Mohammed), now hailed as the “wonder kid,” has gone to work for Rupert (Anthony Head) at West Ham United. In the wake of Nate’s contentious departure from Richmond, Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein) steps up as assistant coach, alongside Beard (Brendan Hunt). Meanwhile, while Ted (Jason Sudeikis) deals with pressures at work, he continues to wrestle with his own personal issues back home, Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham) is focused on defeating Rupert and Keeley (Juno Temple) navigates being the boss of her own PR agency. Things seem to be falling apart both on and off the pitch, but Team Lasso is set to give it their best shot anyway. (courtesy AppleTV+ YouTube channel)

It can be hard to “Believe” when the odds seem stacked against you.

Then again, that can often be when you find the strength to believe because what other choice do you have?

In the newly-released season 3 trailer for Ted Lasso, all the characters we know and love, and in the case of Nate, loathe – to be fair, he is the one character whose arc never really made sense on season 2; it was like he was twisted out of a shape all in the service of narrative convenience – are up against for one reason or another.

But that does mean they’re going to throw in the towel and walk away?

The trailer strongly suggests they will not – Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein) even says “Great job!” at one point so clearly not everyone’s spirits are pushed down irrevocably – and you expect nothing less of a show that’s shown a willingness to be honest about life’s dark moments and overwhelming moments of the soul while still advancing the comfortingly inspiring idea that hope, in spite of everything, springs eternal.

We’ll find out just how tenacious hope is when Ted Lasso‘s final season – could there be more? Maybe, maybe not – premieres on AppleTV+ on 15 March.
